Dear friends,
This has been an incredible year on our shared journey to Treaty.
Treaty is a pathway to self-determination and a future where decisions about Aboriginal people, are made by Aboriginal people. And it’s nearly here! What was once a dream for our Elders, will be a reality for our children.
Next year will be just as big.
Treaty Day Out Gippsland is set to rock Gunaikurnai Country on 8 February, featuring one of our biggest lineups yet. Later that month, mob from across Victoria will come together for our Statewide Treaty Gathering in Naarm to share their hopes and ideas for Treaty.
As the year unfolds, Traditional Owner Treaties will start taking shape, with Traditional Owner groups forming the priorities and aspirations in their areas. We could also see the signing of the first Statewide Treaty agreement!
We are so grateful to have you on this journey with us. As always, we’ll keep everyone in the loop and continue seeking feedback and guidance from our communities.
As we come to the end of another incredible year, we also want to take the opportunity to reflect on everything we’ve achieved together. There is so much to celebrate on the Treaty journey, and below are photo highlights from some of our favourite moments from the past year.
And lastly, we want to say a heartfelt thanks for your support and wish you a Merry Christmas. We look forward to making more history with you in the new year!
