Nominate for the Elders’ Voice

Nov 27, 2023

The Elders’ Voice is seeking Victorian Traditional Owner Elders from across Victoria for a standing group of Elders, who will provide cultural and ethical advice, guidance, and wisdom to the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria (Assembly) on the journey to Treaty.

The standing group will meet up to six times a year and provide timely and considered feedback and advice to the Elders’ Voice Co-Chairs.

This is a 12-month commitment with sitting fees provided to attend meetings.

Skip ahead to form.

The Elders’ Voice does not define an Elder or Eldership. Elders won’t be expected to represent their Traditional Owner group or their community’s views but to speak from their own wisdom, life experience and Cultural knowledge.

The selection process will aim to ensure that the Elders’ Voice standing group is broadly representative of Assembly Regions and Victorian Traditional Owner groups across the state and will seek to ensure gender balance. The selection criteria can be found in the Elders Voice Role Description (PDF).

If you are an Elder, a Victorian Traditional Owner, living in Victoria and are able to provide advice and guidance via regular online or in-person meetings, please complete the nomination form below.

Anyone can also nominate an Elder in their life, with the Elder’s permission.

Nomination forms need to be submitted by: 5pm 12 January 2024

All nominees will be notified whether they have been selected by the end of February 2024.

For more information see Elders Voice Role Description (PDF).
