Salary range: $129,379 – $151,259 plus salary packaging and superannuation, based on experience and expertise.

Overview
The Assembly’s objective is to promote the self-determination and empowerment of Traditional Owners and Aboriginal Victorians through the Treaty process.
This role is responsible for co-managing the Policy and Projects Team to provide strategic advice and support to Assembly Members to deliver key projects to support Treaty-making in Victoria.
Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Head of Policy and Negotiations, support the Assembly Co-Chairs, Council and Members to advance the Treaty process.
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day work of the Policy and Projects Team.
- Oversee the development and delivery of policy, projects and research to support the Assembly to advance the Treaty process.
- Establish and maintain trusted working relationships with Assembly Members, the Executive Leadership Team and staff.
- Collaborate across the Assembly’s operations team to provide strategic advice in relation to Treaty making and support Treaty negotiations.
- Oversee and manage the provision of policy and research advice to support the work of Assembly Council, committees and representative forums.
- Provide policy advice and support coordination and information sharing across the Assembly’s structures and processes.
- Oversee the preparation of briefs and papers to support the decision-making of Assembly Members, including providing meeting support where required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Exceptional research and analytic skills with the ability to work with a range of stakeholders and recommend approaches to high-level policy issues.
- Extremely well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to adapt writing styles to a range of audiences.
- Highly skilled in drafting policy briefs, guidance documents, submissions & research reports.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Victorian Aboriginal Communities and organisations.
- Demonstrated skill and capacity to work effectively and with integrity in the context of a Victorian Traditional Owner Representative Body.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex policy and research projects.
- Experienced relationship and people manager who has worked with multiple stakeholders and Indigenous community representatives to achieve strategic objectives.
- Experienced in motivating and developing high performance teams within a fast paced, values driven environment.
- Degree qualified (highly desired) or equivalent experience.
Salary of $129,379 – $151,259 per annum (full-time equivalent) plus salary packaging, and superannuation, based on experience and expertise.
