Building capacity, wealth and prosperity for current and future generations.
The Assembly is establishing a Self-Determination Fund — a financial resource that will empower Traditional Owners and Aboriginal people in Victoria in Treaty-making processes that are nation building and will build capacity, wealth and prosperity for current and future generations. The Fund will support Aboriginal groups to negotiate Treaties on equal standing with the State, and any other function agreed by both the Assembly and the State.
Community consultations: Designing a Self-Determination Fund
The First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria will set up a Self-Determination Fund to benefit all Aboriginal people in Victoria throughout the Treaties process and beyond.
We are seeking community views on the design and function of the fund — and we want to year from you!
Self-Determination Fund Committee
Led by Committee Chair Troy McDonald, the Self-Determination Fund Committee is made up of 12 Assembly Members. The Committee is responsible for engaging with community across the state and leading the creation of a Self-Determination Fund.
