Assembly Co-Chair Marcus Stewart recently presented at the Indigenous Truth and Reconciliation Commissions: Learning from Experience side-event to the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.
Other speakers included representatives from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Norway, the Truth and Healing Tribunal of Alaska, and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of the Sámi Peoples in Finland.
The goal of the event was to learn from the challenges and successes of these processes and reflect on the lessons to see how they can inform future truth and reconciliation commissions.
Note: Marcus Stewart’s presentation begins at 1 hour 14 minutes.
