VOTE YES!
The First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria supports all elements of the Uluru Statement from the Heart – Voice, Treaty, Truth.
We’ve been working hard to advance all three in Victoria and we’re urging people to vote YES in the upcoming referendum for a national Voice to Parliament.
Any step forward that gives First Peoples a greater say in the decisions that affect our lives is a step worth taking.
It’s time to listen to First Peoples
Everyone in Australia wants to get on with building a better future together as equals.
But we still have a system which imposes unfair laws and policies on us – policies that too often have been created by politicians who don’t understand or respect us or our culture.
Aboriginal people know our communities best – we know what will work. So it’s just common sense that policies about Aboriginal people are better when we can help create them.
That’s what things like Voice, Treaty and Truth are all about – putting Aboriginal people in the driver’s seat when it comes to decisions about our communities, culture and land.
Bringing us closer together
Having these important conversations about Voice, Treaty and Truth will bring all of us closer together, because they will provide ways to acknowledge past injustices, resolve differences, and work out how to create a better future together.
The First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria is asking everyone to vote YES in the upcoming referendum for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples Voice to Parliament.
