What a year! Over the past 12 months we have made strides on our journey towards Treaty for Victoria, and we’ve detailed them all in our 2023 Annual Report that’s just been tabled in Parliament.
We’ve reached some incredible milestones in the past year, including our historic Treaty Elections where mob turned out in their thousands to vote, holding over 450 engagement events across Victoria, finalising the building blocks needed for Treaty-making to begin, and rocking out at Treaty Day Out in both Bendigo and Naarm.

There’s no slowing down now!
Over the next few years, the Assembly will negotiate a statewide Treaty to tackle the big overarching statewide issues like improving health, education, housing and reforming the justice system.
We will also help empower the diverse Traditional Owner groups in Victoria to start negotiating Treaties that reflect the specific aspirations and priorities in their area.
Treaty is our opportunity to make sure we always have the freedom and power to make the decisions that affect our communities, our culture and our Country.
It’s also a great chance to make sure our languages and cultures are respected and can be celebrated by everyone who calls Victoria home.
